Selection Criteria:
- Pursuing a graduate degree in Education, with a preference for Greater Hartford area resident attending the graduate program at Central Connecticut State University, the University of Connecticut Hartford Campus, the University of Hartford, or the University of Saint Joseph
- Strong preference given to applicants pursuing a teaching career
- Achieved academic success
- Demonstrated financial need
- Awards may be made to students from outside the Greater Hartford area or to a local student attending a graduate school outside the Greater Hartford area if there are no qualified applicants fitting the preferred criteria.
Kathy Steinwedell started this fund in 1998 in memory of her late husband, Peter, to provide scholarships to graduate students in the field of education. Peter was a history and social studies teacher at E. C. Goodwin Technical School in New Britain for 23 years.
