Volunteer Opportunities

The Greater Hartford Gives Tolland Community Fund Committee is seeking new voices!

Applications to volunteer as a committee member are being accepted now! 

Requirements to Apply: 

  • Tolland Resident 
  • Age 14 or Older
  • Agree to adhere to Foundation-wide policies and the Community Funds Handbook 

Candidates for elected office, elected officials, and their immediate family members may not serve on a committee.

Grant Awards

In 2024, the Greater Hartford Gives Tolland Community Fund announced the recipients of its latest grants to 12 organizations that do work to benefit the residents of Tolland. 

Through its 2024 grant cycle, the Greater Hartford Tolland Community Fund proudly supported 12 organizations making a difference in the lives of Tolland residents.

The 2024 grants recommended for funding and awarded includes: 

Hockanum Valley Community Council $2000 was awarded for transportation for Tolland seniors and disabled residents.

Tolland Conservation Corps  $8,500 was awarded for a trailer for equipment transportation and on-site workstation.

Tolland Academic and Athletic Booster Club,Inc 1,800 was awarded for gymnastic fees for the Ellington/Tolland girls’ gymnastics program.

Hicks-Stearns Family Museum $1500 was awarded for summer concerts and transportation  from senior housing for one concert.

Tolland Housing Authority-Old Post Village $8,000 was awarded for an automatic door locking system for their community center.

Operation Fuel, Inc $3,000 was awarded for emergency energy assistance for low and moderate income Tolland residents.

Tolland ALICE Enrichment Partnership $5,000 was awarded fpr participation fee subsidies for students within ALICE income threshold.

Special Olympics of Connecticut $2,500 was awarded for start up costs for new Mansfield-Tolland soccer program.

Tolland High School Project Graduation $2,500 was awarded to support a drug-free and alcohol-free graduation night party.

Indian Valley Family YMCA $1,500 was awarded to support cancer survivors in their journey towards recovery.

Hartford Interval House, Inc. $3,000 was awarded to support the Breaking the Silence program that educates youth on domestic violence.

Community Child Guidance Clinic $2,300 was awarded to support Kids Minds Matter, mental health project.

Past Grant Recipients

Hockanum Valley Community Council was awarded $10,000 to provide a wider range of transportation options to disabled and elderly residents of Tolland. 

PFLAG Tolland-Mansfiled Inc. was awarded $6,000 purchase educational materials for their meetings, promotional materials for members and events, and materials for a lending library.

Tolland Alice Enrichment Parthership was awarded $10,000 to support families by subsidizing activity fees for musical instrument lessons, dance classes, sports, field trips, and more. 

Tolland Recreational Department was awarded $2,500 to organize a free outdoor community movie night.

Tolland Senior Center was awarded $1,800 to purchase a sign-in scanner and software license for two-years.

Hicks-Sterns Family Museum was awarded a grant of $2,550 to provide three museum lawn concerts.

Girls Scouts of Connecticut was awarded $1,000 to support transportation of Tolland Girl Scouts to summer day camp in Lebanon, Connecticut.

ALEC Through Lifeworks was awarded $1,500 to provide training to Tolland first responders for strategies that best serve individuals on the autism spectrum in a crisis situation.

The Lions Club of Tolland was awarded $5,000 towards the purchase of an eye screening machine to use with preschool to fifth grade students.

Tolland Education Foundation was awarded $3,000 to implement a First Lego League to Tolland Middle School.

Tolland Historical Society was awarded $5,000 to support restoration of the bell tower at the Tolland County Courthouse Museum, programs, and events.

Tolland Library Foundation was awarded $1,500 for the production of A Tolland Oral History project.
