Volunteer Opportunities
The Ellington Community Fund committee is seeking new voices!
Applications to volunteer as a committee member are being accepted now!
Requirements to Apply:
- Ellington Resident
- Age 14 or Older
- Agree to adhere to Foundation-wide policies and the Community Funds Handbook
Candidates for elected office, elected officials, and their immediate family members may not serve on a committee.

Through its 2025 grant cycle, the Ellington Community Fund at Greater Hartford Gives proudly supported 11 organizations making a difference in the lives of Ellington residents.
The 2025 grants recommended for funding and awarded includes:
Ellington Community Theatre, Inc.: $4,000 To support the 2025 production
Ellington Farmers Market, Inc.: $10,000 To support the Helping Build a Healthier Community project
Ellington Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Inc.: $5,635 To support Pet First Aid & CPR Training: Enhancing Community Preparedness
Ellington Wesleyan Church: $5,175 To support the sidewalk paving project
Everybunny Counts Rabbit Rescue, Inc.: $2,500 To support the low-cost RHDV2 Vaccine Clinc
Friends of Pinney House, Inc.: $7,500 To support preservation of Pinney House
Generation Power CT: $5,000 To support Emergency Energy Assistance for Ellington Residents
Scouting America Troop 96 Ellington CT: $1,976 To support the installation of security and animal deterrent for troop equipment shed and trailer
Shag Bark Hickory Farm, Inc.: $2,500 To support the Veterans/Seniors Equine Therapy Group
The Ellington Historical Society Inc: $4,000 To replace the old knob and tube electrical wiring at the Nellie McKnight Museum
Tolland County Robotics Foundation: $3,000 To support the Ellington FIRST Lego League program
Past Grant Recipients
In past years, the Ellington Community Fund at Greater Hartford Gives supported the following organizations:
2021
Ellington High School (EHS) has received a $1,750 grant to support the High School Compost Project.
Ellington Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Inc. has received a $4,125 grant to support English As Second Language Emergency Services Training for ESL students in Ellington and surrounding communities.
Friends of Hall Memorial Library has received a $5,000 grant to support a consultant to examine diverse library service opportunities.
The Ellington Historical Society Inc. has received a $2,500 grant to support renovations and repairs to the Nellie McKnight Museum and property.
The Ellington Volunteer Fire Department Incorporated has received a $7,500 grant to support training the public how to properly use fire extinguishers.
Town of Ellington has received a $3,125 grant to support the high school’s ‘Safe Grad’ event, an all-night, substance free event for all Ellington graduating seniors.
UR Community Cares, Inc. has received a $1,000 grant to support its Community Deeds Program which offers support for older residents and adults with physical disabilities.
