Volunteer Opportunities

The Greater Hartford Gives Bloomfield Community Fund Committee is seeking new voices!

Applications to volunteer as a committee member are being accepted now! 

Requirements to Apply: 

  • Bloomfield Resident 
  • Age 14 or Older
  • Agree to adhere to Foundation-wide policies and the Community Funds Handbook 

Candidates for elected office, elected officials, and their immediate family members may not serve on a committee.

Grant Awards

In 2025, the Greater Hartford Gives Bloomfield Community Fund announced the recipients of its latest grants to 11 organizations that do work to benefit the residents of Bloomfield. 

Through its 2025 grant cycle, the Greater Hartford Bloomfield Community Fund proudly supported 11 organizations making a difference in the lives of Bloomfield residents.

The 2025 grants recommended for funding and awarded includes: 

Bloomfield Public Art Commission $2,500 to help fund the first Bloomfield Drum Festival

Brown Girls Counseling $4,650 for support of the Mental Health in the College Transition Workshops

Chicks Ahoy Farm, Inc. $3,900 for #coop2kitchen Outreach Pathway to Agriculture

Connecticut Science Center $5,175 for Investigate! STEM Career Academy for Carmen Arace Middle School students

Gripp Productions $2,000 to help fund the Bloomfield Winter Concert Series

HEDCO Inc. $5,000 to expand their wide array of programs, support services and resources to small businesses and small business owners in Bloomfield

Ironwood Community Partners Inc. $1,100 to fund the “Bloomfield People, Places and Events” program in collaboration with Carmen Arace Middle School and Oliver Filley House events

Seniors Job Bank $3,000 to support “Next Chapter Success” a program that provides essential skills for mature workers

Traprock Ridge Land Conservancy $2,700 to provide “Forest Bathing” for middle school students through guided hikes and mindfulness training

UR Community Cares $2,975 to help provide the program “Empowering Bloomfield Seniors with Technology”

West Indian Independence Celebration (WIIC) Inc. $2,000 to help fund “Blooming Bloomfield” engaging youth in West Indian Culture

Imagine College: $10,000 to support Imagine College college preparation program at Bloomfield High School

Interval House: $3000 to help fund Interval House’s “Breaking the Cycle” program that supports Bloomfield residents experiencing domestic violence

Ironwood Community Partners: $900 to fund the “Bloomfield People, Places and Events” program in collaboration with Carmen Arace Middle School and Wintonbury Historical Society

Junior Achievement of Southwest New England, Inc: $2000 to support economic empowerment programs for Laurel Literacy Academy students

Wintonbury Historical Society: $8000 to fund roof and ceiling repair of the Old Farm School

First Congregational Church of Bloomfield – “Bloomfield Backpack Program (BPP) Mandatory Repair and Upgrade”- $5,000.00

First Congregational Church of Bloomfield – “Bloomfield Preschool & Childcare STEAMpunk Garden of Curiosities” – $10,000.00

Girl Scouts Troop #10318 – “Silver Award Project: Trees for Bloomfield” – $1,100.00

Ironwood Community Partners – “LaSalette Park: Barn B (Park Center)” – $   4,000.00

2022

Harris Agriscience and Technology Center –  To support the Seeds for Needs project ($10,000)

Ironwood Community Partners, Inc. – To partially support trail repairs at La Salette Park ($2,500)

Old St. Andrew’s Church – To partially support OSA Bike Ministry for All – Community Bike Share Program ($10,000)

Special Olympics Connecticut, Inc – To support the West Hartford/Bloomfield program  ($2,500)

Bloomfield Early Learning Center, Inc., $5,000: To partially support the community garden and renovation of the Community Meeting Room

Conservation, Energy, and Environment Committee (Fiscal Agent: Town of Bloomfield), $3,000: To partially support purchase and planting of trees in the Town of Bloomfield

Ironwood Community Partners, Inc., $5,000: To partially support the roof restoration of Barn A at Historic Farmstead in LaSalette Park

McMahon Wintonbury Library (Fiscal Agent: Town of Bloomfield), $5,000: To partially support installation of exterior seating for outdoor WiFi
